Big Bash League Predictions & Odds For The BBL 22/23 Season

The Big Bash League has entered the 2023 portion of the season and we're starting to see the title contenders separate themselves from the pretenders.

Pre-season favourites the Sydney Sixers remain as one of the main contenders for the BBL|12 title, while perennial contenders the Perth Scorchers sit at the top of our predictive model.

Scorchers sit at the top

The Perth Scorchers are one of the best run teams in the BBL and it is now surprise to see the men in orange right in contention once again.

Our predictive model gives the Scorchers a 26.1% chance of winning the BBL 22/23 title, and they'll once again be right in the mix after forcing their way to the top of the BBL table through consistent performances.

Thunder defy expectations 

The Sydney Thunder weren't expected to be one of the top contenders throughout BBL 22/23, but after a strong start that sees them second on the ladder, the model has shifted in their favour.

The Stats Insider BBL Predictive Model has the Thunder as the second favourites for the title at 22.7%, which is an improvement on the pre-tournament rating of 14.3%.

Stars slide down the rankings

The Melbourne Stars were the joint third favourites to win the BBL 22/23 title, but after a poor start to the season the green team of Melbourne right out of contention according to our model.

The Stars were a 11.7% chance according to the The Stats Insider BBL|12 model to win the BBL 22/23 title, but they are currently rated as just a 2.7% outside hope to win title.

Conversely, the Melbourne Stars' probability to win the wooden spoon have dramatically, with the opening percentage of 12% rising to 33.5%, second only to the Brisbane Heat.
