Stats Insider's AFL Player Ratings have been updated heading into Round 20 of the 2023 AFL season.

AFL Player Ratings: Key Defenders

  1. Darcy Moore (Collingwood)

  2. Harris Andrews (Brisbane)

  3. Sam Taylor (GWS)

  4. Steven May (Melbourne)

  5. Jacob Weitering (Carlton)

The top five key defenders remained the same after Round 19.

Darcy Moore is the best key defender in the AFL according to Stats Insider's ratings after playing a key role in Collingwood's win over Port Adelaide.

AFL Player Ratings: General Defenders

  1. Jack Sinclair (St Kilda)

  2. Jordan Dawson (Adelaide)

  3. James Sicily (Hawthorn)

  4. Dan Houston (Port Adelaide)

  5. Tom Stewart (Geelong)

The AFL player ratings for general defenders stayed the same following Round 19.

St Kilda's Jack Sinclair is the best general defender in the AFL and is inside the top five players in the game. Sinclair's influence will be needed as the Saints face the Hawks in Round 20.

AFL Player Ratings: Midfielders

  1. Marcus Bontempelli (Western Bulldogs)

  2. Christian Petracca (Melbourne)

  3. Clayton Oliver (Melbourne)

  4. Lachie Neale (Brisbane)

  5. Nick Daicos (Collingwood)

Marcus Bontempelli climbed to the top of the AFL player ratings after his best on ground performance against the Bombers in Round 19.

Brownlow Medal favourite at Betfair Nick Daicos rounds out the top five midfielders in the game.


AFL Player Ratings: Rucks

  1. Tim English (Western Bulldogs)

  2. Max Gawn (Melbourne)

  3. Jarrod Witts (Gold Coast)

  4. Rowan Marshall (St Kilda)

  5. Sean Darcy (Fremantle)

Western Bulldogs big man Tim English is the best ruck in the AFL following a standout performance against Essendon in Round 19.

Jarrod Witts moved into second spot and will be relied upon heavily as the Gold Coast face with Brisbane in the Q Clash.

AFL Player Ratings: Key Forwards

  1. Charlie Curnow (Carlton)

  2. Taylor Walker (Adelaide)

  3. Jeremy Cameron (Geelong)

  4. Tom Hawkins (Geelong)

  5. Joe Daniher (Brisbane)

The top key forwards in the game all remained the same following Round 19. 

Carlton's Charlie Curnow is the best key forward in the AFL after his 10 goal performance against West Coast. 

AFL Player Ratings: General Forwards

  1. Toby Greene (GWS)

  2. Dustin Martin (Richmond)

  3. Isaac Heeney (Sydney)

  4. Mitch Owens (St Kilda)

  5. Izak Rankine (Adelaide)

The general forwards stayed the same at the top after Round 19, with Toby Greene retaining his spot as the best general forward, with Dustin Martin in second position. Crows livewire Izak Rankine moved into the top five after his 20 disposal, three goal game in Adelaide's loss to Melbourne

Rankine will miss Adelaide's next match against Port Adelaide with a hamstring injury.
