Changes:

📉 Zac Bailey is out for the Lions with an ankle complaint which opens up a spot for Jarrod Lyons. Small Negative.

📈 Several changes for the Cats with O'Sullivan, Touhy, Neale and Stanley all out but coming in are Kolodjashnij, Dangerfield, Hawkins and Conway. Positive.

Head to Head:

Since the start of 2020, Geelong and Brisbane have met 7 times with Geelong winning 5 and Brisbane winning 2. Last time they met at the Gabba was R19 last season and the Lions won that contest by 11 points. The previous Gabba meeting before that was 2021, and again the Lions won, by 44 points.

Last week:

Brisbane had a Thursday night to remember against Melbourne at the MCG, winning by 22 points after taking their foot off the pedal during the last quarter. They led by 14 points at QT, 30 points at HT, 43 points at 3QT and were just too good for the Demons. They won all the major stats categories - Disposals 376-313, Inside 50s 58-50, Clearances 44-35, Marks 130-89, Tackles 82-53, Contested Possessions 134-121. The Demons had been up for a while so no real surprise that they might have dropped off a little, but this was a demolition job.

The Cats had a thumping 75-point win over the Kangaroos in the Sunday lunchtime game in Geelong. Geelong blew them away in Q2, kicking 7 goals to 1 to lead by 51 points at HT. The final margin was an accurate reflection of the difference in class. Unsurprisingly Geelong won the key stats - Inside 50s 61-45, Clearances 38-31, Contested 133-120, Marks Inside 50 22-11. The Kangaroos got plenty of the ball (378-342), and held onto it (Marks 129-88), just couldn't get it into dangerous positions. They also won the Tackle count 68-51. Geelong go marching on.

What we can expect this week:

Brisbane will be hard to beat at home, regardless of how well the Cats are going. Their record at the Gabba makes it fortress-like and the expected wet weather won't make a difference.  Take the Lions -11.5 with Bet Right just here.
