Head to Head:

Adelaide have won the last 2 meetings, both at the Adelaide Oval by 56 points and 29 points. Carlton won the 2 prior meetings, at Marvel, by 48 points and 10 points. 

It seems home ground advantage has been important.

Last week:

Carlton got lucky against Freo, very lucky with a dubious "dissent" call and a "touched" mark that became a goal and all of a sudden they won by 10 points after trailing for almost the whole game. That doesn't tell the full story as Freo's biggest lead was only 12 points.

 Freo won the Disposals 371-353 and smashed Carlton in the Clearances 44-27. Carlton led the Inside 50s 48-45, and won the Tackle count 80-66. 

Against the Demons, the Crows fell to a 15-point defeat which was slightly flattering as the defecit got out to 30+ points during the 3Q. The Crows won most of the Disposal stats as well as Inside 50s 54-48, but the Demons won Clearances 41-37, Contested Possessions 131-129 and Contested Marks 18-9, which was double their normal total. 

Interestingly, the free kick count was 21-9 to Adelaide.

What we can expect this week:

With the Crows staring at an 0-5 start to the season, it remains to be seen if they can shake things up enough to trouble the undefeated Blues. Don't think they can, and Carlton could kick a big score under the roof.
