BBL Markets Preview Games 39 & 40: Wednesday Double-Header

Welcome to Stats Insider's Big Bash Market Preview - your daily look at what the model (and my gut!) are seeing in the main markets (and a few exotics) each and every day of BBL08!

Two suggested bets from the Stats Insider model and in after nailing Sangha ($9's) and Cutting ($15's) in consecutive nights we are on a "High Bat Hatty" for this Wednesday double-header.

Head to Head

Very rare suggested bet for this H2H market in the early game this afternoon with the model spotting an edge for the Strikers. Savvy bet this for mine, the Strikers will not be that bad again but markets have jumped on the Stars big time so there is value about the Strikers.

No value in the late game with the model and the markets both heavily in favour of a Hurricanes victory.

Highest Opening Partnership

The model also likes the Strikers for the Highest opening Partnership but no suggested bet on this one. There is value right throughout this Adelaide side tonight in a game that is very much 50/50.

There is also a solid edge in this market in the Sixers v Hurricanes game where the model has recognised the change made by the Sixers in elevating Phillipe to open.  The model still has the Hurricanes at 55% in this market but it is much more optimistic about the Sixers openers than markets who have all jumped on the Short/Wade show.

High Bat

Going back to the (Jono) Well(s) today for the strikers at $8. Jackson Bird has been taking wickets early so Wells could find himself in with plenty of time to bat again. For the Stars, I'm all over Maxy at the $4 price.

In the late game, it's really hard to go past Short again but the $3 price tag is just too short on a tricky SCG pitch. I like George Bailey here at $7's to get 8+ overs at the crease and crack 50.

For the Sixers, Josh Phillipe at $6 is great value for an opener who will show zero respect to Faulkner's medium pace and who will be able to use Meredith's pace to his advantage. I really like the youngster here.

Player of the Match

You will not find Rashid Khan at $9's again this season. The guy has one single semi-poor game and drifts in this market by almost 50%. Great value! Stanlake at $17's is a solid smoky shot, whilst for the Stars it's Maxwell at $10's. Stoinis just far too short for mine.

In the game at the SCG you should know by now that O'Keefe is always a very appealing play and at $21's he is great value. The bowler who gets Short out is halfway home in this market. Johan Botha at $26's in his return to the SCG is well worth a saver as well.
