BBL Markets Preview - New Years Day Double-Header

Welcome to Stats Insider's Big Bash Market Preview - your daily look at what the model (and my gut) are seeing in the main markets (and a few exotics) each and every day of BBL08!

After nailing Doolan ($7’s) and Agar ($15’s) on Sunday night we backed up last night with Ferguson taking down High bat at $6’s and the hardest runer-inerer in the business P. Siddle at $21’s for Player of the match! Happy New Year indeed!

Head to Head

The Stats Insider model likes the Heat this afternoon with a 3% edge for the ‘home’ side in the main market. Tougher to split In the Derby with just a 1% edge for the Renegades. A lot more unknowns in that game which means more value in the exotics but less so in the H2H market. Heat all day for mine this afternoon.

Most Sixes

Big 7% edge for the Heat to win this popular market and I completely agree as well. Heat can clear the fence 1-7 whereas the Sixers batsman are flat out putting thier pad straps on properly at the moment, leaving the fence-clearing to the bowling all-rounders.

At the MCG the model can’t split them with the biggest edge coming at the draw (+3%).

High Bat

Some value about Josh Phillipe this afternoon given he could open the innings. Edwards has been poor and Phillipe does open. At $11’s he is worth a go, even if he doesn’t open there is every chance he gets to bat 7-8 overs from #6 given how poor the Sixers top order has been.

For Brisbane it’s Cutting ($15) and Burns ($7) for mine. Both solid value plays who will bat heaps of time if Heat lose early wickets. Lynn ($3) is in a smash spot though here but just too short.

Tonight in Melbourne I’m liking the $6 about Stoinis who should probably open and I like the $7.50 about Nabi who is also a strong chance to be elevated up the order in Ludeman’s absence.
