Club 20 Irish Open/Rocket Mortgage Classic Bets

The mood at Club 20 has been somber all week coming off our worst weekend in a few months where absolutely nothing went right for us.

It has been a tough week but the Irish Open has forced us out of our stupor and into some bets in what will hopefully (cross those fingers!) be a big bounce-back weekend for the Club 20 faithful.

Euro Tour: Irish Open

The 2021 Irish Open start this afternoon (2pm AEST) as Rory McIlroy headlines a decent field full of players either warming up for The Open or trying to get into it.

The course at Mount Juliet Estate, in County Kilkenny, Ireland is about as un-irish a course as you get in Ireland. The Nichlaus design more closely resembles a PGA Florida course than your traditional Irish links course.

Weather wise it is looking like a decent advantage to the Late/Early guys with up to 20km/hour winds expected in the afternoon Friday likely to make it much trickier for the PM wave on Day 2 given how much water is lurking close to the greens for approach shots on this course.

For pretty much every reason Rory is the play. Double or triple your stake and call it a day if that’s the way you want to play it.

We’re looking to Rory as more of a saver bet who can cushion us from some of our more risky (dumb) each-ways and multi’s.

Outright Bets

  • Rory McIlroy @ 6.00 (triple stake)

  • Christiaan Bezeidenhout @ 21.00

  • Graeme McDowell @ 161.00 (each-way Top 5)

First Round Leader

  • Rory Mcilroy @ 13.00

  • Christiaan Bezeidenhout @ 34.00 (each-way Top 5)

  • Graeme McDowell @ 101 (each-way Top 5)

Top 40 Multi

We’re going to reduce our multi spend by just taking the seven (7) leg combos and the eight (8) legger so that’s nine (9) bets in total for the multi, 20 in total for the Irish Open.

  • Bezeidenhout @ 1.45

  • Graeme McDowell @ 3.00

  • Kalle Samooja @ 2.80

  • Callum Hill @ 2.00

  • Min Woo Lee @ 3.40

  • Richard Bland @ 2.25

  • Dean Burmester @ 2.00

  • Marcus Armitage @ 2.10

PGA Tour: Rocket Mortgage Classic

The Tour moves to Detroit this week where another absolute birdie-fest is expected at the Detroit Golf Club where the previous two years have produced -25 and -23 under par winners.

It has been absolutely pissing down all week on course so lift, clean and place rules are sure to be in play for the opening two rounds at least which really brings in the approach guys because these fairways are pretty easy to hit off the tee.

Not going to take any outright bets prior to the tournament starting, this event will see guys shooting 63 one day then 69/70 the next so there will be wild fluctuations here.

Firing up a big seven (7) leg Top 40 Multi though and taking all 5 and 6 leg combinations plus the 7 legger which is paying a lazy 928-1.

Going to stick with the posse of yongsters who have burnt us last three weeks, giving them one more chance to see what they can do on an easy, birdie-fest course.

The rest of the players are mostly just approach/proximity players who are in form or who will really benefit from the lift-clean and place start to the event.

Top 40 Multi

  • Tringale @ 1.72

  • Max Homa @ 1.91

  • Garrick Higgo @ 1.91

  • Seamus Power @ 2.50

  • Doug Ghim @ 2.63

  • John Pak @ 4.50

  • Davis Thompson @ 5.00

Like Sneds, Lebioda and Reavie as well if you don’t want to take on the Pak/Thompson risk.

If you like betting Tournament or Round H2H plays make sure you check out Stats Insiders H2H Matchup Tool it’s also a great feature for those DFS players trying to decide who to jam in as your last man in.

Enjoy your weekend of golf, hopefully we get straight back into the winners circle!

Hedge

Cruelly denied sporting glory due to recurring shin splint complaints and an aversion to warm-up laps, Hedge now spends his days golfing, fishing the leaves out of the Club 20 pools and identifying value plays in PGA, AFL, AFLW and T20. All you really need to know about him is he's more than comfortable taking 3I off the tee on a Par 5, and more than capable of pulling driver off the deck second shot.
