Betfair’s analyst says Australia has been given the "perfect" opportunity to kick their campaign off with a win.
“This is a match that is perfect for the Matildas’ to make an early statement in.
"Australia to win 3-0.”
Could this be an opportunity for superstar Sam Kerr to get an edge in the Golden Boot race? If you think she will score a goal or more in Game 1, it might be worth looking to get a position at the $10.50 in the outright market.
Tournament favourites the USA are missing some serious firepower in Becky Sauerbrunn, Sam Mewis, Kristen Press and Mallory Swanson.
Betfair's expert believes there's no reason to panic if you believe in Team USA.
“The depth that coach Vladko Andonovski has at his disposal is unparalleled.
“The USA has maintained the number one position in the world rankings since June 2017 for a reason.”
On the Betfair Exchange, the USA are currently $3.55 to win the World Cup - a price that is fair according to Betfair's expert given the strength of the squad.
“Their strength across the park by having a top ten player in each position makes it impossible to bet against them.”
Drawn in Group E alongside Netherlands, Portugal & Vietnam, expect the favourites to win Games one & three comfortably, while a draw against the Dutch wouldn’t be a total shock given their outstanding recent goal scoring record. The ladies in orange will also be out to avenge their 2019 final loss to the USA.
Betfair has made an exclusive preview show available on its YouTube channel, social media platforms and the Betfair Hub. Respected football pundits Carly Adno (Fox Sports, the Guardian, Polaris Media) and Katie Lambeski (football commentator and analyst) will give their take on upcoming Group Stage matches, plus suggested betting strategies on markets only available on the Betfair Exchange.
