I Feel Happyyyyyy: Friday Footy Feast @ Club 20 After Big Win
Last updated: Mar 19, 2021, 5:01AM | Published: Mar 19, 2021, 2:17AM
There were high-fives, fist-pumps and bum-pats galore this morning at the Club 20 front bar as we woke (or stayed up) to watch Matt Jones shoot a career round and land us our first big win of the 2021 PGA season.
It’s always nice to hit a 67-1 each-way at any time, but when you do it early on a Friday morning at the start of a big weekend of footy and golf, well, overexcitement can kick in pretty quick.
Can, and has (hiccup).
So fair warning, we have the foot on the accelerator and things could get a little silly particularly in tonight’s Pies v Dogsgame where we like plenty.

AFL – Magpies v Bulldogs
For those more sensible punters who actually enjoy collecting, I’d advise you right now to check out the AFL Match Pages at Stats insider.
Whether you are looking for Totals, Line, H2H, Goal Scorer Market or even footy tipping info, the SI model runs 10,000 match simulations on every single game. It's FREE and it’s definitely something you need to be checking out and making part of your pre-game routine to help inform and enhance your own takes.
Both these clubs are likely to throw the kitchen sink at each other early so I expect this game to really open up late and, like the SI model, anticipate a Bulldogs win.
Mason Cox 3+ Goals ($6), 4+ Goals ($20), 5+ ($75), 6+ ($200)
Ok sure, Cox could be ‘in the hands of trainers’ just before half -time ala the ‘I don’t want to go on the cart’ guy in Monty Pythons Holy Grail, BUT, if he catches fire early or has one of those 10m heater patches, we are in the game here.
We know it’s a big IF, but this is a guy that if he is clunking them, he'll have his entire team looking to hit him up every foray forward.
And lastly, he is playing the Bulldogs and the post-covid world has not changed so much that we don’t still take key forwards against the men from the western suburbs.
Tim English 3+ Goals ($11), 4+ Goals ($46), 5+ Goals ($251)
With Stef Martin coming to the kennel, Tim English is likely to spend more than half his time forward, especially in this game against the Pies –even when rucking he will look to drag Grundy forward as well.
Matchup wise, English gets a clear height advantage, even if Roughy sits him, and I expect them to really look for him inside that forward line – the better he goes, the more time Bontempelli gets to spend on-ball.
Still priced like a ruck who won’t spend too much time forward, so feel like we’re getting a little bonus here. Will factor late when fatigue sets in.
Patrick Lipinski 2+ Goals ($9), 3+ ($45), 4+ ($250)
Lipinski can bob up for a goal in congestion with the best of them, but his main avenue to goal looks to be streaming down that open side un-attended, and if guys like Hunter and Bont can spot him and pull that kick to 45 out instead of the goal square, Lipinski is in the game.
Da Multi’s
Bit more conservative on the disposals front tonight, where Hunter and Daniel look well placed to cover 25 each, along with Pendles and Crispy who's probably the riskiest of our quartet.
Adding some goal kickers to a bigger multi because, JONESYYYY!
- Hunter, Pendles, Crisp, Daniel 25+ Disposals @ 8.25
- English, Cox Goal, Hunter, Pendles, Crisp, Daniel 25+ Disposals @ 18.00
PGA - Honda Classic
Joaquin Niemann @ 29.00
Ranked #14 in the field Ball Striking in R1, just got into heaps of trouble around the greens (ranked #129). If we are expecting Matt Jones to shit the bed (and we absolutely are), then Niemann’s odds look great for how well he hit it in the opening round. Clean up that chipping and he can head into the weekend maybe 3 or 4 back.
Euro - Kenya Open
Callum Hill @ 15.00
You were all warned. Deal with it.
We missed front bar favourite Callum Hill prior to the opening round and he made us pay with a -6 65 that included 9 birdies! Horrible double on the 5th he sits just one back and gets to tee off early in R2 so we can enjoy watching him in the lead up to the footy tonight.
For the very brave, or for anyone who had more than usual on Jonesy last night, Hill into Niemann (435-1) and Hill into Scotty (510-1) is an option if you don’t like the relatively short odds for Hill.

That’s it from me, I’m off to hit some balls and then clean the pools, but this afternoon I’ll be back on the twit space so if you have any thoughts on the games tonight feel free to join in the conversation @club20.
I’ll be looking at Saturday’s AFL games later tonight so if you spy something, put it up on our feed to see what your punting peers think (bet it first though, obviously).
