Introducing Horse Racing to Stats Insider

It’s been a wild year of delivering our loyal users a hefty dose of new sports models and predictions that we build here in house at Stats Insider HQ. We launched our partnership with TAB with the 2018 World Cup in July, and have had some exciting early success with our College Football and NFL models. But what is the Australian betting landscape, and what is Stats Insider, without the thrill of the track? 

That's right sports fans, horse racing is here.

As of today, our Spring Carnival Racing model predictions will be pumped into the site and updated regularly with incoming information. 

This information is all completely free, just login into, or sign up for, your Stats Insider account to see every major meeting in full.

About the model  

The Stats Insider racing model is similar - but different - to the existing sporting models. Based on approximately 120 data points per horse - including race-specific data, and past sectionals - the models are trained on predicting each horses time for a particular race, given previous performances, track conditions, barrier draw and other statistical factors.

The simulation of the race - like each game in a sporting sense - is then run 10,000 times by the Stats Insider model, and displayed as an "SI Rating”, which is an approximation of the relative projected time between horses over the course of all simulations. At this stage, the model is in its development - "advisory only" - stage, as we continue to refine it, with full fields and value summary-style smiley system (like our sports) coming in the not-too-distant future.

In the meantime, every meeting page will list the races for the day, our Top 4 horses and their respective SI rating.

Also on the looming horizon are NBA and A-League football, which will land on Stats Insider over the next weeks and will include predictions and value plays across every single game, every day.
