In a thrilling clash on Sunday afternoon that included five lead changes and seven tries, the Parramatta Eels continued their season resurgence with a 24-22 win over Wests Tigers.
Neither team was truly ever able to take a stranglehold on the game, but it was the Eels who struck late with 10 minutes to go to take the lead for the final time, and held on for an important and enthralling victory at ANZ Stadium.
Wests haven't been a pushover for anyone this season and although they lost last week this game was no different, but this was not the Parramatta from the first few weeks of the season. They continued their excellent form in the win over Manly, attacking the Tigers resilient defence impressively to take a vital second win of the season.
Although the game started slowly with only four points (2-2) scored from penalties in the opening 25 minutes, the game exploded into a seesawing contest from there with both sides desperate to claim the ascendancy.
Benji Marshall appeared to have given the Tigers a lead they could hold onto when he crashed over in the 65th minute, but Manu Ma'u finished off a great Corey Norman set up to give the Eels an important and potentially season reviving win.
