Looking Back: The Rabbitohs Run Riot In The Sydney Derby

The South Sydney Rabbitohs claimed bragging rights in a memorable Thursday evening in Sydney, surprising a disappointing Sydney Roosters outfit 26-14.
Sydney's defence through the middle was non-existent, as the Rabbitohs run riot in both halves of play. The Roosters forward pack was dominated by Souths, and it opened up the game for the Rabbitohs who took advantage particularly after half time.
Mistakes by James Tedesco gave the Rabbitohs two tries in the first four minutes of the second half, allowing the Rabbitohs to blow out the lead early on. They never released their grip on the game after that.
Greg Inglis was amongst the best on field, leading Souths superbly to power past their fierce rivals. Inglis scored a key second-half try, leaping over Tedesco to help extend the Rabbitohs second half lead.
Sydney were 73 percent favourites just before the halftime break according to SI's Win Probability, but they never got close after getting it back to 50 percent early in the second half as the Rabbitohs powered away. With 15 minutes left in the game, it was already over.
The win sealed a huge result for Souths, who were only favoured in 26 percent of SI's pregame Win Probability simulations. Overs also had a triumph, which was a recommended pregame bet by SI.
