NBA Betting Preview: Day 17
Nov 1, 2018, 9:04PM
3-0! It was a perfect Day 15 in the NBA Betting Preview, as all 3 bets covered. Detroit covered the spread in their loss to Boston, whilst Oklahoma City and Memphis covered in home wins over the Clippers and Wizards respectively.
We'll try to make it another day of 3-0 predictions on Day 17 after a day off on Day 16. Today's Betting Preview will take a look at Denver's trip to Cleveland, the Clippers visit to Philadelphia and Atlanta hosting Sacramento.
Denver @ Cleveland
Larry Drew's Cavaliers will host the Denver Nuggets as the Cavs look to register their second win in a row after winning their first game of the season last time out against Atlanta. The Nuggets meanwhile will look to win on a back to back after yesterday's last-second win against the Bulls in Chicago.
The Nuggets are already a bad matchup for Cleveland, but without Kevin Love to carry the offensive burden that gap only grows wider. They're going to be up against it.
Key Stats and Trends: both teams are 4-3 ATS this season, so we'll need to look elsewhere for indicators. The Cavs defense is as leaky as it gets, ranked 30th in the NBA, giving up 116.5 points per 100 possessions.
Denver meanwhile will throttle the Cavs defensively, holding teams to 101.9 points per 100. Look for the Nuggets to inflict a heavy loss on Cleveland here.
Key Play: Denver -4.5
LA Clippers @ Philadelphia
The Clippers have surprised many out of the gate, starting the season well amidst a 4-3 overall record. They were blown out of the water in the second half against Oklahoma City last time out, and will look to bounce back against a Sixers team that's 4-0 at home.
Philadelphia have a lot to prove after a sluggish start to the season. With Jerryd Bayless, Wilson Chandler and Zhaire Smith all out indefinitely, their depth and shooting has taken a hit. At 4-4, they need to win this game rather badly.
Key Stats and Trends: whilst they're 0-4 on the road, the Sixers have been superb at home as previously mentioned. They're scoring 111.4 points per 100, whilst conceding a stingy 101.0 points per 100 - that's 6th in the NBA.
The Clippers are a tough team to beat, but trust Philly to get it done at home.
Key Play: Philadelphia -5.5
Sacramento @ Atlanta
Trae Young's Atlanta hosts the 5-3 Sacramento Kings in the final game of Day 17's Betting Preview, as the Kings attempt to go 3 games above .500 and win their 5th game in a row and 6th of their last 7.
Dave Joerger's got this young Kings team running and gunning, and it's paying dividends so far. Unless Trae Young can shoot the lights out, the Kings could pinch another win here.
Key Stats and Trends: as previously stated the Kings are 5-3 so far this season, and 6-2 ATS. They're 3-2 on the road, where they've posted an Offensive Rating of 112.1 points per 100. That's 8th in the NBA.
The Hawks meanwhile are 2-5 ATS, posting an abysmal 90.7 points per 100 at home. The 2.5 points are too juicy to pass up, take the Kings to make it 7-2 ATS & 6-3 overall.
Key Play: Sacramento -2.5
