NBA Betting Preview: Day 21

It's been a few days off but the NBA Betting Preview is back for another day. The season has just ended its third week and we are fresh off the back of two consecutive 3-0 days. Denver, Philadelphia and Sacramento all took care of business to continue a successful day's tipping.

We're now onto day 21, with three free predictions. Golden State hosts Memphis, New York takes on Chicago at Madison Square Garden and the Minnesota Timberwolves head to LA to take on the Clippers.

Please note: these are Expert Predictions, not predictions by our NBA Model. For those, you can visit our NBA Hub.

Chicago @ New York

Chicago's youth and offensive firepower head to the Big Apple to take on the Knicks. Both teams have young rosters and have struggled with consistency, and both will smell the chance to register a much-needed win.

New York will look to bounce back from a defeat to Washington, slumping to 3-7 on the season. The Bulls need a win even worse, struggling at 2-8. This will be a scrap with two desperate teams needing a morale boost.

Key Stats and Trends: both teams have positive records ATS, with the Knicks at 6-3-1 while the Bulls sit at 6-4. Chicago, however, has struggled on the road, with a 1-3 record ATS so far. New York is 3-1-1 ATS at home.

There aren't a lot of differences between these two struggling ball clubs, but the Bulls abysmal defense stands out. Leaking 114.5 points per 100 possessions, that will be the difference here. Take the Knicks.

Key Play: New York -3

Memphis @ Golden State

The Grizzlies will look to rebound from a poor performance in Phoenix, where Devin Booker's late brilliance overcame Memphis. Marc Gasol and Mike Conley struggled, shooting 5-of-27 in an awful night's showing.

Golden State meanwhile just keeps on rolling. Steph Curry looks like the MVP version of himself, whilst Kevin Durant, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson are looking very impressive. The Grizzlies have their hands full.

Key Stats and Trends: this will come down to a battle of an otherworldly offense vs a sturdy defense. The Warriors are playing out of their mind on offense, scoring 119.7 points per 100, by far the best mark in the NBA.

The Grizzlies meanwhile are holding opponents to 103.8 per 100, 4th in the NBA. Golden State are 4-1 ATS at home, whilst the Grizzlies are just 2-3 ATS on the road. Back the Champions to show out, even with a lot of points to cover.

Key Play: Golden State -14.5

Minnesota @ LA Clippers

The turmoil-filled Minnesota Timberwolves visit the bright lights of Los Angeles to take on the Clippers, who've registered some impressive wins against tough opponents en route to a 5-4 record so far this season.

Minnesota meanwhile cannot escape the drama that surrounds Jimmy Butler. Butler sat out the team's thumping by Portland yesterday and should return for this game, but it seems the team cannot move forward until they resolve Butler's trade request.

Key Stats and Trends: the Clippers are 3-1 at home this season and 3-1 ATS in those games, whilst the Wolves are 0-5 on the road and 1-4 ATS. LA is top 10 in both offensive and defensive efficiency, whilst the Wolves leak 114.0 points per 100 defensively, ranked 27th in the NBA.

With or without Butler the Wolves just can't be trusted right now, especially on the road. The Clips have earned our faith, let's hope they reward it.

Key Play: LA Clippers -4
