NRL Pro Punter Previews - Broncos v Dolphins, Round 6 2024

It's a big Brisbane Derby for Friday's late game.

Still a lot of uncertainty about how these teams will line up, but regardless, I think the line here had gotten too big at the +10.5.

The Broncos are certain to be without Haas, Reynolds, Piakura and Mariner… which are all big outs.

While the loss of Farmworth is big, the Dolphins do look set to have all of their spine from the past 3 wins available and at a ground that is effectively neutral, my model has the line here about 4 to 6 points.

The Dolphins form is being doubted because they have not beaten any high quality opposition over the past three weeks, but they are playing high completion footy (best in comp in that key metric) and their defence has only conceded 10 points per game over the past three weeks. In contrast, the Broncos have conceded over 23 points per game in 2024.

One of the reasons I was keen on the Dolphins this year was because I thought they had built up their depth and that theory will now be put to the test due to their mounting injury toll.

While the Broncos have had a much tougher draw to date and deserve favourtism, I think the Dolphins are right in this one.
