NRL Pro Punter Previews - Dolphins v Dragons, Round 2 2024

Rounding out Round 2 is the Dolphins hosting the Dragons and the bookies are struggling to find a favourite in this one.

Steve Green from Champion Bets has joined us for the 2024 NRL season, where he'll share his thoughts on every game!

Dolphins v St George Illawarra Dragons
Sunday, 6:15pm AEDT

Dolphins 1.90
Dragons 1.90
Dolphins -1.5 (2.00) / Dragons +1.5 (1.80)

For the Dolphins, with Ray Stone and Connelly Lemuelu both ruled out due to injury, Coach Bennett has brought in Wallace and Aitken. Both of these guys deserved to be there in Round 1 in my view, so no great loss with these changes.

O’Sullivan has been replaced by Katoa in the halves and Niu has lost his spot to Averillo.

Once again, I don’t think the Dolphins lose anything in these changes and I don’t mind the look of this Dolphins side.

Last week, they were just horrible across the park. Their wingers and outside backs were exposed on 5th tackles, with the Cowboys running the ball with ease.

The Hammer played one of his worst games, with a series of brain explosions and bombed tries hurting his team.

I am sure Coach Bennett would have roasted his team and stressed upon them the importance of lifting for this one at their home ground in Redcliffe.

As for the Dragons, they were great against the Titans, with Coach Flanagan clearly creating a tougher and more battle-hardened footy team over the off-season. However, the Titans were missing some key players and played poorly, so I am not getting carried away with their form as I think they ran into teams that were massively off their game.

However, what is worrying for the Dolphins, is the fact that the Dragons will welcome back three key forwards this year. Leilua will make his debut off the bench, while 2023 player of the year Lawrie will return to the front row. Sele returns home to Dragons from his stint at Souths, so this Dragons pack is looking pretty strong.

I think this is one of those occasions where the Round 1 form has been factored into too much. This should be a beauty!

Predicted score: 19 Dolphins - Dragons 18

Let’s be honest - what do you really want from your betting?

For nearly every punter, it boils down to the same things.

You want to win. Of course. Nobody likes losing money. But as you probably know, winning over the long term is hard. Very hard.

You want it to be easy. This isn’t a job for you. It’s a hobby… maybe a bit of a side hustle. But you don’t want  - nor do you have the time - to spend hours and hours each week on trying to decipher where the value in the market is.

You want it to be fun. Nobody got into this for it to be a chore, did they? You want to make good bets, and enjoy riding the outcomes

The easiest solution? NRL Tips with Steve Green of Champion Bets. He’s doing it full-time so that you don’t have to. He’s watching every minute of every game to study the form, and using advanced metrics that the rest of us don’t even know where to find.
