The Eels were unlucky in their loss to the Panthers in Round 2. Despite being 2 wins and 1 loss, I think they are close to being the form team of the competition.

Their spine has been in terrific form and their backrow is better than any team in the competition. While they have some depth issues out wide, I thought young Talagi was sensational on debut and this week they welcome back Sivo and Simmosson.

However, the loss of Moses overshadows all of that. He is so important to this Eels team and it is just as big of a loss to the Eels as Cleary is to the Panthers.

While Wests were rusty in their opening game of the season in Round 1, the Benji Marshall era has now started with a bang and with Bula, young Galvin at 6 and experienced Sezer at 7 and Api at 9, they finally have a well-balanced spine to work with.

Papali’’I is back to his best, while Utoikamanu is in form that will see him make the Origin team if he can maintain it.

While the Sharks were bad and the Eels are a hard team to beat, I think the line is a little too big here and the absence of Moses give Wests a real shot here.
