Although the win by the Sharks over the Warriors was very gritty and impressive, statistically they were very fortunate to hold on.

After the Warriors got off to a flyer, the Sharks didn’t concede a point for the last 68 minutes of the game. This is despite the Warriors making nearly 2000 metres compared to the Sharks 1467 and the Sharks missing nearly twice as many tackles.

While this may be partly because the Warriors attack was a bit clunky, it does show that Coach Fitzgibbon is trying to instil in his team a defensive mindset.

As for the Doggies, they were getting hammered by the Eels but there were some promising signs later in the game when Kikau and Crichton started to get more involved.

I am still unsure of whether Hutchinson should be starting 7 (I would have Sexton) and I think that the Bulldogs front row is not likely to win the yardage battle many times this year.

I think the Sharks deserve to be bigger favourites here.
