Once again the Sharks continue to fly under the radar and I think many pundits think they will finish high up on the ladder and then burn out when it comes to the semis. While they are yet to demonstrate they can beat the heavyweights in the competition, my numbers do suggest that this Sharks team will be highly competitive in September.

Although everything still depends on Hynes, their back 5 are the ones that lay the foundation and although it was sad to see Finucane retire immediately, I think that is exactly what this squad needed to ensure he did not take the spot of a more dynamic younger forward. As it stands, they are already choc-full of powerful forwards and I think their pack measures up against any in the competition.

As for the Dragons, their yo-yo form continues in 2024. They look great one week, only to fall away the next week… however last weekend they collapsed in a heap when confronted with a classy outfit like the Roosters. Similar to the Sharks, the Dragons form has looked good against some of the weaker teams but we will get a better idea of how they are going in a sold-out local derby.

My ratings have the Sharks far too strong at home.
