NRL Pro Punter Previews - Titans v Dragons, Round 1 2024

Saturday's late game sees the Titans hosting the Dragons.

The Titans are favourties here but with no Campbell or Fifita, I think the Dragons head into this one with a big chance of pulling off an upset. Although they were very rusty against Souths in the Charity Cup, they looked a lot better the weeks after.

Guys like Suli, Sua, Lomax and Bird were playing with real aggression and with the class of Hunt and the underrated Liddle, I don’t mind the looks of the Dragons this year. Out of all the lowly rated teams (Doggies, Raiders, Wests and Dragons), it is actually the Red V that I have most confidence in.

A lot will come down to the form of the volatile Sloan at 1 and how Flanagan can perform alongside Hunt, but I like their chances of pulling off an upset against a Titans outfit that has a halves pairing that I rate as close to the worst in the NRL (Foran and Boyd).

I do think the Titans forward pack and outside backs are lethal and with home ground advantage they will be hard to beat but the Dragons can keep this close.
