NRL Top Try Scorer Tips for Round 12, 2022

Another huge week of NRL is upon us and, with State of Origin right around the corner, there will be some big names looking to score tries across the eight games.

It's Round 12 of the 2022 NRL season, and we've got the information and stats on where every team in the NRL is most likely to score and concede their tries this week.

By watching game footage each and every week of the NRL, we determine which area of the field (either left, centre, or right) tries are scored and conceded from by each team.

Whilst other stats that look similar to this one are based on where the ball was placed over the try line, we analyse exactly where most of the scoring play took place, meaning you can determine which players are most likely going to be involved in scoring and assisting tries in the NRL this week.

Check out our NRL top try scorer tips for Round 12, with NRL first try scorer and NRL anytime try scorer probabilities for each NRL game this weekend.

Round 12 NRL Try Scorer Tips

Brisbane Broncos vs Gold Coast Titans

Broncos to score down the left

With teams set to be named for the 2022 State of Origin series next week, lots of eyes will be on the Broncos' right side as Selwyn Cobbo and Kotoni Staggs get one final chance to strut their stuff.

However, the Broncos left has held its own this season scoring 18 total tries, with Corey Oates (10 tries from 11 games) and Herbie Farnworth (7 from 10) being the major benefactors.

Oates is one of the NRL's leading try scorers and will also be looking to push his chances for Queensland selection. Having re-signed for the club this week, Farnworth will likely be keen to further endear himself to the Broncos faithful.

The pair of Oates and Farnworth look set to take advantage of a Titans right edge that has conceded 20 of 42 (48%) of the team's tries this season.

The Broncos play host to the Titans at Suncorp Stadium on Friday, May 27 at 7:55pm AEST.

New Zealand Warriors vs Newcastle Knights

Knights to score down the right

Despite some disappointing form for the club of late, the Knights' right side started the season on fire, with 11 tries scored there, as opposed to 8 down the left.

Having all spent time on the sidelines already this season, the starting right side of Dane Gagai, Dominic Young, Tyson Frizell and Jake Clifford are now all back on deck (albeit we will have to wait and see exactly what side Clifford lines up on with the inclusion of Anthony Milford).

That Knights team comes up against a Warriors side who has conceded 21 tries down the left side of their defence in 2022, including two hat-tricks to right-side wingers, in Mikaele Ravalawa in Round 1 and Xavier Coates (4 tries) in Round 7. With regular left centre Bradman Best also out for the Knights, we could see Newcastle shift the ball right even more, and if given clean early ball, a host of guys could be poised to capitalise on this match-up.

The Warriors take on the Knights at Moreton Daily Stadium on Saturday, May 28 at 3:00pm AEST.

Canberra Raiders vs Parramatta Eels

Eels to score down the left

The first thing that stands out when looking at the Eels' left side this week is Waqa Blake returning from injury, and looking to be a straight swap for Hayze Perham on the left wing.

But more importantly, we recommend keeping an eye out for Maika Sivo after being named on the extended bench. Sivo has a prolific record in his young NRL career, with 54 tries in 67 games.

He also showed no signs of struggle when returning from a ruptured ACL last week, scoring twice in the NSW Cup. If deemed fit for the starting 13, expect Sivo to slot into his regular left-wing spot, with Blake potentially moving to the centres.

Of course, if Sivo is kept in the reserves, Waqa Blake will be the main man.

The Raiders play the Knights at GIO Stadium on Sunday, May 29 at 4:05pm AEST.
