Stats Insider’s AFL Player Ratings for Round 7

After Round 7 of AFL action in 2023, Stats Insider’s AFL Player Ratings have been updated. 

With footy fans constantly asking who are the best AFL players, our objective, data-driven ratings help answer that question.

There have been some big risers and sliders so far, but plenty of familiar names still sit at the top of our AFL Player Ratings.

AFL Player Ratings Key Defenders

  1. Darcy Moore (COLL)

  2. Sam Taylor (GWS)

  3. Harris Andrews (BRIS)

  4. Steven May (MELB)

  5. Tom Barrass (WCE)

Our AFL Player Ratings for the key defenders stayed steady following Round 7, with Darcy Moore's strong performance against Adelaide seeing him retain his spot at the top.

GWS' Sam Taylor stays in second position, but he's likely to slide down our player ratings with is long term injury keeping him off the field.

Jack Sinclair tops our AFL Player Ratings for the general defenders, with the St Kilda All Australian continuing to star for the Saints. Collingwood's Nick Daicos could lead our AFL Player Ratings by the end of the season however, with the Magpie consistently ranking in his team's best on ground votes.

Melbourne's Clayton Oliver retains his spot at the top of our AFL Player Ratings, as his Demons top our AFL Premiership probabilities, with teammate Christian Petracca coming in second. Suns skipper Touk Miller is sliding down our rankings after sustaining a knee injury in the Gold Coast's win against North Melbourne in Round 6

AFL Player Ratings Ruck

  2. Jarrod Witts (GCS)

  3. Tim English (WB)

  4. Max Gawn (MELB)

  5. Rowan Marshall (STK)

Fremantle's Sean Darcy tops our AFL Player Ratings for rucks, with the big Docker dominating stoppages for his side. The big riser has been Rowan Marshall, who was one of the best afield despite the Saints going down by 7 points to Port Adelaide.

Geelong's Jeremy Cameron is rated as the best forward in the game according to our AFL Player Ratings, with Carlton's Charlie Curnow surging up our rankings. Richmond's Tom Lynch has fallen out of the top five, with Port Adelaide's big man Charlie Dixon taking his spot.

GWS captain Toby Greene is rated as the best general forwards in the game after a best on ground performance in the Giants' win against the Swans, while Shai Bolton loses his top spot. Essendon's Jake Stringer has jumped to fourth after his four goal game in the Bombers' loss to Geelong in Round 7.
