The Broncos Raiders Nightmare

The Canberra Raiders blew a led of epic proportions on Saturday night, enduring a nightmarish second half to lose to the Brisbane Broncos 26-22 at Suncorp Stadium.

The Raiders raced out of the gate to a 16-0 lead at the half, but it would all be for nothing as Anthony Milford took charge of the game for Brisbane and lead a sensational comeback effort against his old club.

It was a tale of two halves as the Raiders fell apart in the second half, first allowing Corey Oates to get the Broncos on the board after some good work by Milford. A clever Milford kick would then set up Alex Glenn to make it game on at 16-12 Raiders.

When Josh Hodgson found his way over for Canberra to make it 20-12 it appeared they had rallied themselves back into control of the game, but Milford had no intention of that being the case.

Milford then set up Darius Boyd which led to Jordan Kahu scoring out wide, before Milford went it himself to give the Broncos the lead before a late penalty sealed their win.

Canberra were almost a 90 percent probability to win with 15 minutes to go, and were at nearly 80 percent at halftime, such was their dominance.

It didn't matter though, as a Milford masterclass took over proceedings and keeps Brisbane in eighth position on 20 points with Canberra reeling on 14 points in ninth as their finals prospects went from sunny to very dark in 40 minutes of frenzied football at Suncorp Stadium.
