The Giants Show Some Grit

Greater Western Sydney may have given their season some serious revitalisation with an impressive road win over the struggling Adelaide Crows on Sunday afternoon. With four losses in a row expected to become five, the Giants rallied to win by 16 points.

The midfield battle was won by the Giants and sealed their first ever win in Adelaide over the Crows, despite Bryce Gibbs and Matt Crouch racking up 36 disposals each.

Josh Kelly (31 disposals), Dylan Shiel (30 disposals, 1 goal), Lachie Whitfield (26 disposals) and Stephen Coniglio (24 disposals, 2 goals) led from the front, and Jeremy Cameron booted three crucial goals including two clutch efforts in the final term to get the Giants home.

Not many would've predicted it, but Adelaide now finds themselves outside of the top 8 after losing 3 of their last 4 games.

Though they are still outside the top 8 also, 2 premiership points behind Port Adelaide, Adelaide and Hawthorn, the Giants will feel this game could be a turning point in what's been an injury-ravaged first few months of the season.

GWS were 58 percent likely winners at halftime according to the Stats Insider Model and held a firm 60 percent advantage heading into the final term. But it was a see-sawing contest, and when Darcy Fogarty goaled early in the fourth quarter the Crows took the lead and were a 68 percent chance of victory.

However it was the Giants who stood tallest when it mattered, with goals from Cameron and Zac Langdon (who booted three for the day as well) helping seal a vital and likely season-saving win.
