The Inside Guide: Quick View Form

If you're in a hurry, or just want a quick look at the horses who potentially have a favourable run (based on historical data) in an upcoming race without having to go through the detailed form of every runner, then the Quick View Form page may just be the tool you're looking for!

What is the Quick View Form?

Drawing on the information contained in Race Pro, Stats Insider's Quick View Form assigns each runner a score in each of the following four categories:

* Past performance over the distance of today’s race;

* Past performance when racing on today’s track conditions (known as 'going');

* Past performance when racing at today’s location; and

* Any 'value’ the SI model has identified relative to its current market price.

These individual scores are then amalgamated to produce an overall score for each runner racing on that particular day. If a horse's overall score exceeds a predetermined threshold (designed to weed out the runners that aren't favoured in the above categories), then the horse makes its way onto the Quick View Form page.

In essence, the Quick View Form is a summary of all the runners on a particular day that the data says have performed well in the above categories weeding out the rest of the runners who historically have not performed well in these same categories.

And unlike Stats Insider's Race Pro – you will be able to view all these runners across that day’s racing in one location – meaning you don’t have to click through multiple races if you are in a hurry!

It is important to note that while the categories that make up the Quick View Form are relevant to a horse’s performance, there are a multitude of other factors that also influence the outcome of each race, and there is no ‘one size fits all approach’ to picking a winner– these are just a few of the factors we have seen pop-up quite a bit, so we have simply summarized them for you in an easy to process format.

Similarly, whilst the Stats Insider models are trained to achieve long term success in the betting market, the fact a horse makes its way onto the Quick View Form page is not a specific tip or a confidence rating for any given runner in a particular race. They are just one of the many things you may wish to consider when pulling together your racing form, and how you choose to use this information is completely up to you!

How to use Stats Insider's Quick View Form

Use this tool to quickly assess the horses with potentially favourable runs on that particular race day by comparing them across the key variables mentioned earlier. The information displayed here is a more simplified view of the more detailed Race Pro information for every horse in every race.

Reading the information

Drawing from the underlying data, runners are assigned a score in each of the following four categories: Distance, Going, Track and SI Value. When the overall score meets - or exceeds - the threshold to show a potentially favourable run, that horse is displayed on the Quick View Form.

For example, in the above screenshot, we can see that LAUGHING HEIR has been adjudged to have a potentially favourable run on June 26th at Sandown, due to his good history at the track and on today's going, as well as his fair history at the distance of today's race, and there is a slight edge in betting value on LAUGHING HEIR according to the Stats Insider model.

SI Value %

SI Value is the amount of ‘edge’ or difference between the average market price and Stats Insider's win probability and is considered an important variable to the overall score.

Using the same example as above, you can see on the Race Pro page for that particular race, more detail on each runner, and the context behind the Quick View Form page and the SI Value %.

As above, LAUGHING HEIR has won one of his two runs at both today's going, and also today's track - Sandown-Hillside - equating to a 50% win rate. This displays as green on the Race Pro, and also on the Quick View Form. Likewise, LAUGHING HEIR has won one of his four runs at today's distance (1800m) equating to a 25% win rate and an orange designation on the Race Pro and the Quick View Form.

The Stats Insider model also currently rates LAUGHING HEIR as a 6% chance of winning this race, as opposed to the average market % (bookmakers' implied odds) hence a 'fair' and orange designation for the 1% edge on win probability.

While the Stats Insider models are trained to achieve long-term success in the betting market, how you use this, and the information provided in Stats Insider's more detailed Race Pro, is completely up to you.

The SI Value metrics are not indicators of a tip or confidence rating for any given runner.
