For the second straight week the Punt Return Podcast was missing one-third of the usual trio. While Woot was inactive, Darryl Data phoned in from the beautiful European sunshine to talk all things football.
Before getting into their bets the boys discuss the infamous Todd Gurley play that saw Todd Gurley voluntarily go down at the 3 yard line instead of scoring a touchdown. The play cost many punters on the Rams spread & the Over 56.5 their tickets and many fantasy players a winning week. Wye noted that it was an interesting mix of football, gambling & fantasy but it was absolutely the right call by Gurley. They then briefly look at the NFL futures and note that there isn’t too much value on the market but the Rams deserve to be the clear favourite.
Plenty of talk in this podcast centres around the plethora of good matches this week headlined by the Saints & Rams squaring off. Ravens vs Steelers, Seahawks vs Chargers and Packers vs Patriots all excited the guys. The Seahawks & Chargers game in particular has perked the interest of Woot and Wye with them liking two different angles in this one. Darryl & Wye talk about the impact of coaching changes on teams and agree that the Browns could be a great money line play despite being 8.5-point underdogs.
Darryl’s best play is the Vikings -4.5 with the model having the Vikings winning by over a touchdown.
