The Winner of the Big Bash Revealed

Who do you think will win the 2018-19 Big Bash League?

Based on our revolutionary World Cup Simulator, Stats Insider's BBL Simulator is the only place you can simulate this season's Big Bash Tournament in its entirety.

Whether it's the team you love to hate suffering the ignominy of the wooden spoon, or your favourite franchise basking in glory after winning it all, you can simulate all the possibilities with our BBL Tournament Simulator

How does it work?

Each time you click 'SIMULATE' we process our total current run of simulations of the entire Big Bash League. The simulator runs through the first group stage of the tournament, then selects from the available Finals matchups (based on the final ladder positions) to display the possible Finals.

Once you select the team whose path you want to simulate, you can view the entire tournament's results - including each game's final outcome (which you can scroll through at your leisure so you don't miss a thing). The tournament will simulate game-by-game, with a real-time ladder view so you can see how each team is progressing through each stage of the season. Whether on mobile or desktop you will be able to see every part of the simulator as it moves toward the conclusion of the tournament.

In the simulation above, we follow the journey of the Melbourne Stars throughout this season's Big Bash. Sadly on this occasion they didn't make the Finals, as the Brisbane Heat took on the Hobart Hurricanes while the Adelaide Strikers faced the Sydney Thunder in the Semi Finals, before the fancied Strikers claimed ultimate glory in the Final against the Heat.

Remember, this is one of many, many different possible outcomes. So keep trying your luck, your team could win it all!

What goes into a Match Simulation?

As with all of our simulations on Stats Insider, the basis for our simulations are our proprietary algorithms. We take a range of inputs, including team-level, player-level, and micro-level data, historical stadium and weather information, as well as information gleaned from the betting markets and trends, to synthesise them into performance projections for each player on each team. From there, we run simulations of each match (using the ball-by-ball and bowler vs batter data) to form our projections for each match.

Each use of the Big Bash Simulator draws from one of our many simulations for its match results.

How often is it updated?

Before the tournament, the back-end of the simulator will automatically update with new information, so make sure you keep checking back regularly as updates occur.

During the tournament itself, the simulation will regularly be updated with the results of each match, so you can run updated simulations throughout the entire Big Bash.

Where can I get more information on a specific match?

Match pages will launch on-site in the week before the first games. In the meantime, have a play with the Simulator, and you can see how we built our new and improved cricket model, and why we think it's one of, if not the best on the planet.

We'll also have extensive long-form and podcast coverage of the Big Bash on Stats Insider throughout the entire tournament, picking holes in the markets and identifying the value opportunities you're looking for (including some exciting new exotic markets), so keep an eye out for more information in your inbox and on social media!
